No, there will always be people willing to pay for original and professional grade work. No matter how simple the software gets (iWeb) there are still companies that are going to need complex e-commerce sites and huge showcase sites that will require a team of professionals to upkeep.

Take Dell for example, they've do almost 100% of their sales online, having worked for the company that does dell.com I can say they have an entire floor of people just working on their website. Plus another team located in dell's offices just doing project management and alike.

Maybe one day we'll reach the point where every band (eg: myspace) or small business can build a page on their own, but at the end of the day serious business is still gonna need the professionals maintaining their sites.

Just my 2cents on the matter

NO. I think if someone wanted a really nice website they would need to hire a designer. Because even if all of the templates that come with the software look really good, they are stock- and nothing can ever replace a custon website. I think that almost the more people start making their own websites and start seeing the same look to every website they visit, the more designers will be hired.

But that just another designer's 2cents worth.

Thats a brilliant point! your very right probably. If all sites were made on iweb then pro designers sites would stand out which people like so more designers would be hired

Brilliant point!:)

radiantm3 No company is going to pay a web designer 60-80k a year if they use a "website maker" to build websites.

They won't do it themselves. Most people have old computers, or they don't have the time, or skills to learn even the simplest packages.

You could ask the same thing about doing car maintenance like oil changes.
You can do it yourself, but would you actually do it and trust yourself, and would you have the time?

A lot of people don't even know how to correcty use Google.

I'd like to know where all these "easy" web design apps are for intense PHP & MYSQL web applications.

Even using dreamweaver for a project at work, I spend all my time in the code view, building code.

I think there will be more specialist working on web sites in the future.

Graphic designers/HCI specialists/copy writers/coders etc.

In answer to the question — we all get xCode with our Macs, but I don't think Adobe and other software companies are worrying just yet. ;)
