There's a simple way to better divine when the 6G iPod will be released: are recent iPod sales up, down, or about the same? And particularly if they're down, by how much (% and $)? Regardless of the iPhone, any big hit to that cash cow will get Apple to spice sales up with a new iPod model - the bigger the hit, the sooner the refresh?

To that end, can someone please, concisely, post (w./ links/sources) as much iPod sales info as exists from say Jan 1, 2006 (or Q1 2006) to present? If I recall, Apple may divulge these figures in its quarterly financial conference calls.

Get us the data, THEN we can analyze & speculate. For example,
-Shrinking sales = refresh pending (see above)
-Even flat sales could trigger a refresh within the next 6 months; Apple likes to keep growing its business.
-Growing sales - particularly a big jump from Q1 to Q2 2007, or year-on-year spikes from Q1 '06 to Q1 '07 - suggest don't hold your breath for a refresh in the next year.

Maybe I should have called this thread "OMG 6G IPoD Release DAte!!" to get more attention...
