Judging on the fact that Apple usually makes its Keynotes on Tuesdays (i read this somewhere in this forum), then i take it that Leopard, will most likely be announced on Tuesday 30th of October! Apple will surely take advantage of every single day she can, she did it on Leopards presentation back in June!
Cant wait till then!:D

Judging that Apple releases OSs at 6PM in stores on a Friday, I guess the 26th...

Should I wait 24 days?

I am just about to go out and buy a new MacBook. If I buy it this week, it'll come with Tiger. Will Apple give me a free upgrade to Leopard when it's released? Will MacBooks come with Leopard the day it's released, or does it take time for it to filter down to new equipment?

Amazingly, there is a hole in this theory. I know you must be thinking 'WHAT? WHBUT THIS IS MY AWEOSME THEORY! IT CANT EB WRONG!'

Well, here it is:

Sorry, buddy, better luck next time.

Now the Friday theory I can get behind, seeing as the last several OS X releases were indeed on Fridays. But this? No.

Anyone else remember when Panther was just coming out, a cool picture around Thanksgiving time just a black panther head and shoulder maybe, with a glinting coppery eye and the tag "What are you grateful for this year..?"

I loved that! I think it must have been a review in like MacWorld or something, I remember clipping it out and using it for desktop deco for awhile.

Anyway I hope Leopard springs out when ready but the 26th sounds great :)

If you order now, you have to pay the full price. If you order the day Leopard comes out, it'll be free (included).

Well that's a great way to drive down sales in the run up to a new OS release!

I've just upgraded my old G3 to Tiger (which should be the end of the road for G3s), so I think I can wait another couple of days... But I really want it NOW!

Effin' Apple and their lack of info...

I'm with you Fuzzy...I need to buy a new iMac ASAP. I've been putting it off for MONTHS with the anticipation of Leopard, but if I don't buy one next week I'll be screwed. I HATE Apple's lack of info leading up to a major update. Now I'm about to fall into their insidious trap...paying twice for something I could hve gotten for free, had I just been able to plan for it. I'm genuinely pissed off here!

Do you all think it would be good to wait a week or so after Leopard becomes available to make the purchase? I know Apple is under pressure to release in October and often there are problems with a new OS release. I won't compare this to Microsoft's release of a new OS, but just the same I wonder if it's best to wait a short period of time. Any thoughts on this?

a week wouldn't make a difference. a month might. if there's a big problem, which i doubt, apple will fix it shortly. and you'd have that problem with a new machine or whatever when you buy leopard, b/c a week later the disks are going to be the same

Do you guys think the line will be long at the Apple store? I live in Folsom and I hate to make that drive on a Friday during traffic hour. I am thinking I might be it locally from a reseller. I'd enjoy the hoopla, but it would also be nice to drive 10 minutes to get my copy. I'm wondering if Best Buy will have it..?
