iPod Ipod splashed with Water... Click-wheel not working >_<

Hi... Kinda new here and when I searched for this topic... I got alot of threads where ipods got drowned...

My nano-chromatic just got splashed with a bit of water- and maybe sat there for about less than 5 minutes... and it was playing at full blast at the time. It continued playing until I noticed it was slightly wet. It was still on at the moment... so I don't think it short-circuted or anything. It still plays. I shook it and it changed songs too, but the click-wheel doesn't work, so I can't change the volume or turn it off...

I connected it to my computer- and my computer recognizes it. It changes & syncs still. The only way I can turn the music off is by connecting it to my computer & then disconnecting it. Is there any chance that just the click-wheel's dead? o_O

I appreciate any help or comments :) I just hope something can be done about it >_<

Now let's be nice, no need to bash anybody. I 2nd airforce's suggestion, rice will suck up any moisture left. Though the moisture will be gone, the damage might have already been done because you tried to use it after it got wet. Number one rule of water on electronics, dont mess with it!

In the nicest way possible:
Sorry but do you have a problem with us enforcing forum rules?:rolleyes: If you do then I suggest you click the Log Out button at the top right hand side of your browser until you decide that rules weren't meant to be avoided and overlooked.

As for the question, sticking it in rice is not a guaranteed fix but can help. Leave it there for 24 hours. Don't bring it into the Apple store and tell them it stopped working though. They will be able to find out it has been water damaged and will not replace it. Physical damage is not covered on the warranty and you will be trying to scam Apple which is a big no-no to talk about here.

Enforcing forum rules is fine, but people aren't here to be spoken to like dirt. Simply stating the error is enough without sarcastic questions surrounding it.
 
My mistake... Sorry to post it in the wrong section. I guess I was really out of it when I posted. Sorry to upset anyone.

Unfortunately with water damage... the damage happens because water conducts electricity ... when a device is on or used while wet the water can divert the current into components not designed for it and therefore short out /blow the component .... on occasion you might get lucky and the water, when gone, will allow the switch to work again ... but i would work on the basis that you bricked it and anything else is a bonus

Never said I had a problem with anybody enforcing the rules, only trying to tell SummerBoy that he doesn't need to be a jerk about it. I know the rules quite well. I participated in these forums for almost two years, but had to relinquish my membership because I worked for Apple retail.

As far as the iPod, OP, how's it looking?
 
Well... I've tried setting it in rice to dry off- I left it there for about a day & a half and tested it to see if anything happened. The click-wheel still does not work. It's still drying off in rice now- I'm still hoping it'll somehow work, but yes, I do think that the damage has already been done. Thanks to all of you for the help, Really appreciate it :)
