Hi Guys,

I have recently bought 2.4 ghz, 13.3'' MB white. i want to upgrade 2gb ram to 4gb ram. By doing this did i lose apple warranty ?..I have bought warranty for 3 more years...please help me in this aspect.

Thanks in advance...

Yep, it will void the warranty unless you buy it from Apple. Thats why I didn't buy Applecare because I wasn't going to pay $200 for a RAM upgrade.

And I think you might have posted this thread twice.

Since when did upgrading RAM void warranty? Apple even shows you how to do it in all the user manuals.

Clearly there wasn't enough research done.. upgrading the ram WILL NOT void the warranty, and apple even gives you instructions on how to do it.. ram is a user replaceable part

He did post twice.

And no, it will not void the warranty... Where did you get this information?

It is considered a "user serviceable part". They will not cover the RAM that you put in there, but it will not void the warranty on the entire machine. Apple is not that evil about things (yet )

Sorry, I don't know where I heard that but thats what I have though forever. And sunnymac, if you are looking for a good place to buy it, go to Otherworldcomputing. I have found it to be the best online to purchase memory.

Thanks to one and all

Thanks very much all of you...

Now I can replace my RAM undoubtedly....

This forum and you guys are rocking !!!

Once again !!!! Thanks alll

Well you're definitely wrong. Even upgrading the RAM in a mini (a fairly user-hostile machine for upgrading) does not void the warranty.

The only way it would void your warranty is if you futz something up doing the upgrade. Otherwise upgrade ahead without fear!
