I am going into highschool this September. I would like to get a imac. Right now the 3.06 imac looks wonderful spec wise. What imac gives you and me the biggest bang per buck and should I get a refurb or new? I do like that new computer smell has anyone found something that you can spray on your computer to make it smell like new?

It's iMac not Imac...

2.93GHz model with ATI 4850 gives you the biggest bang for your bucks.

The smell is a minor thing, it'll be gone in few days

haha wow i have a imac and ive always thought it was Imac oh well

It really gets on my nerves spelling it wrong too. It's not hard, small i and capital M - iMac.

last years 24" model can be bought for a song

I agree with the posts for the refurb and clearance units....if you do some homework, you can get the 08 24" iMac with rebates for Parallels and cash (which is just as good as money!) for around $1200.00. That's a steal considering the 2.8 ghz core 2 duo is faster than the entry level 09 24" iMac and costs much less........plenty of power in a beautiful machine. Gotta love that. Plus with the education discount (if you qualify) from the apple store you can get the back to school special for a free iPod, iTouch, etc...(the back to school special applies to clearance---not refurb)

No highschool student needs a 3.06GHz computer. I'm deeply in graphic design and 3D modeling. My MacBook (plastic) chugs along fine. Any iMac would be okay. And don't be fooled by the graphics card. It doesn't do anything towards faster renders. Render is CPU only.
