Formatted capcity of iPod mini

What is the actual formatted capacity of the iPod mini? For example, my 40Gb comes out to 37.7 Gb. I am considering purchasing a mini for my more rigorous workouts, but I want to know how much it will actually hold.

if you're that worried about the difference between formatted and actual capacity you might want to go for one of the bigger iPods, the difference isn't that great my 15GB formatted is 13.8 (loss of 8%)

i believe apple says the iPod mini holds 1000 songs but of course it depends upon how long the songs are what you use to encode them and what bitrate

Formatted size

It's something like 3.7gigs.

Like I have mentioned in other threads - Most of today's storage devices are marketed under the misnomer that 1GB = 1 billion bytes.

So the actually capacity of the ipods are as follows

4GB - 3.7252903 GB
5GB - 4.65661287 GB
10GB - 9.31322575 GB
15GB - 13.9698386 GB
20GB - 18.6264515 GB
30GB - 27.9396772 GB
40GB - 37.252903 GB

This is true of today hard drives as well. A rough formula is to take 93% of the advertised capacity to get the REAL capacity.
