How I would've rebranded the Macbooks

I personally think Apple should've brought back the name "iBook" for the white plastic macbook.

Then, they could've given the two 13" models and the base 15" model the SD card reader and named them the "Macbook" since they have integrated graphics.

Finally, keep the Express/34 slot on the two higher end 15" models and the 17" model and kept them as the "Macbook Pro" since these have the integrated and dedicated graphics.

Wouldn't this have made more sense for targeting the people buying Apple laptops?

I think so at least.

At least this way it would've put the white Macbook in it's own class, and put the integrated graphics and SD card readers in the "next level" MB consumer line with an extra choice of a 15" instead of only a 13" option.

Then the MBP would still have dedicated graphics and Express/34 slot for the "pro" user line.

Makes complete sense.

Identical because of the single fact that they're aluminum?

That would just further the idea that Apple makes top notch products for consumers and pros alike.
 
I used to see apple like BMW giving size importance...base model 3 series = to 13 Inch, then 5 series = to 15inch and 7 series= to 17 inch the last M5 = MacBook air. Now they've destroyed that!!

no it just sounds like a bad idea

what they should have done is exactly the same thing - but perhaps adding a cheaper MacBook/BlackBook for 799/899$

to the OP: woops, just did the same rebranding in a neigbour thread ;) looks like we got a similar idea.
 
"MacBook" was adopted to separate the line from the "iBook" and "PowerBook" units that ran the G-series of processors. No need to bring that back.

I do think it was weird to go all pro on everything, but part of me wonders if that was done intentionally to roll out some lower-cost MacBooks that are cheaper than $999. Drop the screen a little bit, put an Atom in there, small SSD, maybe 1GB of RAM and you could possibly have a $600-700 netbook.

nice prediction. compared to that, even the whitebook seems pro.. lol :)
