Velociraptors in the Mac Pro Nahalem?

Sorry guys, I did some Google'ing and a search, and can't seem to find a definitive answer.

Do the WD 10K RPM Velociraptor drives work in the newest Mac Pro? I'd like to use one as a boot camp drive to run all my Steam games off of.
 
The VelociRpator will work fine, just be sure to get the one with the model number ending in HLFS. Those are the newer ones that are compatible with the drive sleds in the Mac Pro. Some of the first ones (model -GLFS) were mounted in a way that didn't line up with the standard SATA connectors, so avoid those. They solved that a while ago, and most if not all of the ones available in retail channels should be the newer version.

Yes, you need to check this. Western Digital calls the model you want the "backplane-ready" version. I know that my local Best Buy is still carrying the "wrong" model.
 
no, i would not advise putting one in with your computer. your computer would probably get broken

They aren't loud - the new 2.5" versions are actually pretty quiet in the mac pro case, I can hear a bit of seeking, but nothing at all compared with older 10K or 15K scsi drives.
