iOS Would it be against the law (to use short movie sound clips)

I was thinking about using sound clips for my application, from one or more movies, each one 2-3 secs long. Would it be against the copyright law.😕

Yep, unless you license the sounds.

It's hopeless to ask these kinds of questions on random Internet boards. The best thing to do is consult a lawyer that specializes in this area. Since I know you aren't going to do that 😉 at least ask on a leagal board.

And remember that not all countries have fair use provisions in their copyright laws (the UK doesn't, for instance).

Doesn't matter.

Somewhere in the SDK agreement, you have to agree only not to use any music or video if it infringes on any copyrights.
