I know the topic of this thread is stupid, but at least it's kept the MMS questions in one place. So, how about we get back on topic and stop the silly back and forth over who invented/discovered what, because one guy over here decided to write something stupid about Europeans? :)

You know how hot it is in Egypt?

Which is why you should cover up as much as possible to retain water.

What wars have the Americans started themselves that they have finished without other peoples help? ...

The one in 1812, the one with Mexico, and the one with Spain. We could have annexed all of Mexico and we got a fair share of the Spanish Empire with the last one.

Agreed, which is why I am trying to keep it alive.

You should beam back in time and tell them...

Maybe this will get AT&T to start hopping:

Apple, AT&T sued for lack of MMS capability
Business and Law

A class action started in a Louisana district court alleging that Apple and AT&T touted the iPhone as supporting MMS (multimedia messaging service) but have not as yet provided the service.

The plaintiffs allege that Apple "advertised heavily that the new version of iPhone, the 3G, as well as the even newer version the 3G-S would allow MMS. Apple's print and video advertisements in and on television, the internet, the radio, newspapers and direct mailers all touted the availability of MMS." AT&T advertised the same functionality, the filing says.

But since the launch, in the USA, such functionality is not yet available. The court filing says the AT&T Answer Center page said: "Customers who are sent a MMS message and own a non-MMS capable device will receive a text message instead of an actual MMS message."

But, the filing alleges: "AT&T is not a carrier which offers MMS! Of course, AT&T is the only carrier in the United States used by the iPhone. In other words, AT&T's towers do not support MMS."

Apple, says the filings, has revealed that AT&T has never upgraded its towers so as to support MMS functionality. "The only excuse offered by AT&T and Apple is a mouseprint disclaimer on the website, in barely readable font, which reads 'MMS Support from AT&T coming in late summer'".

The class action suit alleges the Louisana suit will consist of at least 10,000 individuals. The action is brought both under the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices Act and other Louisiana civil codes.

Yeah - they had MMS - but do you know how hard they had to throw those rocks to get them to the recipient? And if the recipient wasn't paying attention a) ouch! b) it would fall to the ground and perhaps never be read.

Sounds like they had the same problems!

I wonder what would have happened if it got intercepted... Would the interceptor throw a piece of parchment back saying "Message Send Failure?" :D

The claim that AT&T does not support, and never has supported, MMS is not true.
I can place my SIM card in my Motorola Mpx220 Smartphone, send a couple of messages, and it's working fine. They just don't have it enabled with a Carrier File, and whatever else, on the iPhone.
I don't like the fact that I'm paying for it with my Family Unlimited Messaging plan, the Terms state that it's available.

In Apple's defense, they did say at the WWDC it would be available later this summer.

It's kind of like Bill Gates selling IBM the Operating System when he didn't even have one. Somekware.

Forwarding the MMS to multiple contacts must have been a bitch.

I just deciphered some of the heiroglyphics.

It seems that there were several messengers responsible for such a service

Verizonus was fast and everywhere - but only provided his services within egypt

Then there was Timobilum. He was less expensive but also slower.

Atticus would send and rec from some people but not others based on their painting instruments. But as last writing, he was planning on expanding to other types of brushes including something called the iBrush.

Upon further examination, deeper within the text Atticus proclaims that the iBrush users would have MMS when the hot sun has met the colored leaves on the ground, which incidentally is NOT August 13th.

you seem to be confusing your Egyptians with Romans.

i was able to use MMS on my old Motorola Razr. honestly i do not see why ATT is forcing us to wait to get MMS on the iPhone. i can think of two possible reasons:

1) Their network can't handle it (like it can handle anything at all)
2) ATT is very slow on the bandwagon (then again ATT is slow with pretty much everything new)

There is no claim that AT&T doesn't support MMS, we know they do on every other phone they have. Almost everyone here is complaining about it not be supported on the iPhone, yet.
Don't know if you noticed, this is the iPhone forum. When someone mentions MMS, it is implied they are talking about on the iPhone.

I believe he was referencing the article posted above where a class action suit is suing over the lack of MMS when it was heavily advertised. It states that
But, the filing alleges: "AT&T is not a carrier which offers MMS! Of course, AT&T is the only carrier in the United States used by the iPhone. In other words, AT&T's towers do not support MMS."

I think that MMS is not supported on the iPhones in the U.S., because there is a special processor in only the AT&T iPhones. It's Apple's fault. That's what my friend, who is a friend of the AT&T CEO told me. :)

The bearing of any processor to intra-architecture does not affect software modificate inter-service such as MMS.

Now MMS is available. Just not to everyone.

So explain that :)

Explain to me how your sarcasm detector broke. Did you jump into a pool or the ocean with it still in your pockets? :D
