The lost hype during the event doesn't amount to a monetary loss. Besides that, it will be offset by even more hype they are getting here.
I have to disagree with that. Why is it, do you think, that Apple builds hype the way they do? It's to build anticipation and excitement for the device, which they then get to call "magical" in front of drooling audiences. They then get TONS of glowing press. You don't think that sells products?
Now what will happen (again, if the story is actually true) is that all the press will already know what the phone's going to look like and what technology it's going to have. They won't be excited. The coverage in the press will be much more muted. The "booms" from Steve are all going to be duds.

Agreed, but I still think the amount of hype they get today evens it out. And again, there is no real way to prove a monetary loss. Competition to market is the real thing lawyers would chase here, not the hype of a release event.
<snip>Also to those who seem to think that just because Apple haven't used this type of marketing before that they will not/have not used this time shouldn't count their chickens before they hatch....<snip>
Time will tell.

if this tweet is not a fake I would say this is not a magician at work...
if this tweet is not a fake I would say there is no magic here...

I could believe this of another company, but it just doesn't fit Steve's control-freak personality. And not just having control, but having the appearance of having control. In other words, he would never let this happen because it makes Apple look like they are not in control.
I bet this is eating him alive!! LOL
It is a fake. Why do you think it's being posted everywhere as a .jpg instead of a link? Because once you get to the account it's pretty obviously fake and the poster even admits in a subsequent post that it was a joke.
Exactly - this is not THE iPhone 4G. I can't imagine apple having exposed screws on the bottom of the phone like this.
That being said, it might be A 4G iPhone for use on the Verizon network. I can see Apple producing a premium, sext 4G iPhone for use only on the AT&T network and a more industrial looking, less sexy version for Verizon.
It's fake. The first post was 2 days ago.
Edit: and what thelatinist said. Next tweet admits it.
I think this is a purposful leak by Apple to distract everyone from the many issues and moans about all of Apples other products.
I mean, who is moaning about iPad WiFi issuea right now?
Who is asking hwere the new MBA is?
Who is asking where the new Mac Pro is?
The answer to all is NO ONE.
Clever move about... very clever indeed.
No cease order because they have implemented the leak themselves.... they have probably used the money they would have paid lawyers to do that to silence the few that they have let in on the secret!
Thoughts?????
PS the Magician comment refers to magicians using distraction to convince the audienc eof the magic...!
I think this is a purposful leak by Apple...
Has anyone considered that this was a purposeful leak of a fake product on apple's behalf just to stir up a fuss and cause some iPhone hype? Like maybe apple just scraped together this thing from left over 4G iPhone parts and 'lost' it in a bar 😛
Tell me you don't equate Apple with the Illuminati?😕😱
It's not a lie. It's a supposition on his part. A crazy one, yes, but not a lie.
My guess is that he's far-sighted and can't see those tiny screws.😉
My theory is that there had to be more than one person who dropped this iPhone in the bar. The evidence just doesn't support one person dropping it. I think some executive had the iPhone in the bar and got a little tipsy and started using it to email Mr. Jobs that he sucked and that the iPad was just a big iPod Touch. Another more sober executive tried to wrestle the iPhone from the inebriated executive, whereupon it fell to the bar floor. In the tussle that ensued by other bar patrons trying to grab the iPhone (supporting the iPhone was stolen according to Apple) a person snatched the iPhone and ran out of the bar screaming "Gizmodod, I got it." (Gizmodo's everywhere). It was only a matter of time for Gizmodo to find the thief, and here we are with this thread.
Also, the Cubans or Mafia had some involvement. Gizmodo was on the grassy knoll outside the bar.
