Shipping estimates for new online iPad 2 orders from Apple have fallen to just 3-5 business days in a number of countries, down from the earlier 1-2 week estimates that had been in place since April. The new shipping estimates apply to both engraved and non-engraved models and appear to be in effect throughout Apple's North American and Asia-Pacific distribution channels. Shipping estimates in Europe remain at 1-2 weeks for the time being, although past history suggests that they should quickly follow the lead of the other markets.

Apple's shipping estimates for the iPad quickly ballooned to 4-5 weeks at the device's launch, and have been gradually improving since that time. With turnaround times now at or under a week, Apple appears to have finally tooled up sufficiently to nearly meet demand.

Apple's iPad 2 debuted late in the first calendar quarter of 2011, and the company fell far short of most analysts' iPad sales estimates for that period, with the company noting that a drawdown in supplies of the original iPad and ramping of iPad 2 production meant that the company essentially sold every iPad it made during the quarter. Apple's supplies undoubtedly improved during the second quarter, and the company will reveal its shipment numbers for that period later this month.

Update: Apple's European online stores have now been updated with the new 3-5 business day shipping estimates.

thats great for our international friends

It's great for the U.S. too! Same deal.
Just got an email that mine's been shipped this morning (Wi-Fi/3G). Almost a full two weeks earlier than I anticipated.

Very excited!

The demand is so incredible I don't see how Apple will ever be able to catch up (in the near future). Even with an Apple Store in the next town and plenty of BestBuy and Walmart stores nearby I couldn't even get close to getting my hands on one.

Tried one day at the Apple Store (Salem, NH). They kept almost a hundred people in line for 3 hours, then when they finally came to hand out "tickets", they only had 40 units. Couldn't the have said something earlier? They didn't just lose a sale, they've pretty much lost a customer since I can get Apple equipment direct from Apple. Lesson learned, nothing is worth that much wasted time. Should have just ordered from Apple to begin with.

I think apple tells you it will be longer then expected so when it ships you dont bad mouth them because its out early or on time.

yea shipping from china is about a week to two weeks. my macbook pro came from china and my first gen ipad (last year) and both took about a week in a half to get to michigan.

Can't actually believe this, i ordered mine from UK apple store on Mon 3rd, when the shipping estimate was 1 to 2 weeks, and my order has still not been prepared for shipping yet, any chance that my order will now be dealt with quicker now? or will I still have the 1 to 2 week estimation?

3-5 here in Finland also. Hope I get my shipping notice soon. Ordered mine about week ago when it was still 1-2weeks.

When will it get to a state where you can walk in and pick one up from apple store, at&t and verizon stores, best buy and walmart? Then we will know that they have solved their supply problem. How many you all think they sold during the second quarter ( apr-june )?

Mine arrived yesterday! Very slick piece of tech.
It took six days to get it out of China, but once it got to the States, it was only two days until it got to my house.
