Since having my iPhone 5 I've really missed having a dock so I decided to make my very own wooden DIY temporary dock until 3rd parties can bring out theirs :)

I can't believe Apple arent making a dock for the iPhone 5, they make charging so much easier and you can see display when setup as a alarm clock next to the bed!

I used some spare wood that was lying around the garage and went to work. The cable tie to stop the cable slipping when putting the phone on and off the dock, wooden legs cause the cable sticks out at the bottom. The base is so it don't topple over, simple but effective for now ;)

Very cool! What I'm using is a business card holder that I got at Office Depot (or maybe it was Staples) a couple of years ago, and that works very nicely, as the iPhone can either stand up (cable coming out of top) to charge or can be on her side to charge. When she's not charging she can just relax there and be ready for me to grab.......

I'm just using one of these in black to match my black iPhone.

Props to the OP for putting something functional together but not exactly something I'd want to look at everyday.

hehe the Lightening connector has actually quite strong and it holds the iPhone much better then the 30 pin did, there's no wobble like when I put my 4S in my Universal dock.
 
about the third party docks...

i've been hearing a lot of talk about third party lightning accessories won't work because apple puts some special chip in their lightning connectors :confused:

i'm going to be bummed if i really have to drop $20 on a single cable.

The lightning connector is an adaptive connector that changes how it uses many of the pins based on what it's connected to, and yes it has custom chips inside.
