I removed my passcode from my iPhone last evening, for only a short while. I did not realize that action would cause my cards in Apple Pay to be deleted. Well it did! When I try to add them back, I get the error message "Could Not Add Card" and it will not allow me to add any cards to Apple Pay, including one that was never there in Apple Pay in the first place.

I'm hoping that somebody here has worked through and resolved this issue. The Apple support board is full of threads about it but no posters have been able to get the problem resolved, even with the help of Apple. For these people reporting the issues, the card issuing institution was not able to help fix the issue for the posters either.

Anybody have any thoughts? I use Apple Pay a lot and would have never messed with the passcode settings if I even remotely realized this would be the result. I guess the slogan "No good deed goes unpunished" applies here unfortunately!!!

Any help/thoughts would REALLY be much appreciated! Thanks!!

Removing your lock screen code deletes all ApplePay cards, your TouchID registered fingerprints and anything else dependent on having lock screen code enabled.

I have had to remove my lockscreen code a couple of times and in order to re-add a couple of my ApplePay cards, I had to go thru an activation process with the card issuer.

Genius Employee Replaced iPhone 6

Update......

In a visit last evening I had the phone replaced. I explained my efforts to remedy the issue and explained, actually showed the recent thread from the Apple customer support forum. He tried to qualify the information on the support forum (as not being official) but saw my issue firsthand. He went and asked a coworker to remove his passcode and the employee was able to add his Bank of America card again without issue. It helped that one of my cards that I could not enter was from Bank of America. He then replaced my iPhone and after the setup, I was able to add a few cards without the issue I was having with the other iPhone.

It appears it may be a new issue or not happening often enough to be on the Genius radar.......at least not yet.

Keep an Eye on BoA

Glad to hear your issue was fixed.

I have been having an issue with a BoA credit card for weeks (stuck on "Activating"). BoA blamed it all on Apple but it turns out it is some issue between BoA and Visa (the Apple reps were awesome but even they had to push ridiculously hard to get BoA to actually investigate rather than push it off on them). BoA is aware of this issue (which they claim is limited to only their "Affinity" credit cards), so just keep a close eye with your new phone.
