    Turn off start up chime

    Using newest version of El Capitan on Macbook (2016 release) I cannot turn off the start up chime. Followed instructions on command for terminal window using sudo nvram SystemAudioVolume=%80 I entered password and shut down (completely) the Macbook. Nothing happened ! Anybody have any ideas?
