Hi. I have the latest iOS and while listening to a song, when I press the 3 dots, I no longer have the option to add that song to a playlist.

I have to go to the playlist, search for the song and then add it.

How do I restore the previous functionality?

Thanks

What DO you see?

Knowing what's "not working" isn't nearly as helpful as knowing what happens.

Thanks for the reply. It's working again now.

I appreciated your critique, and went to take a screenshot, and now the "add to playlist" is there again. Technology makes us into liars sometimes. I first noticed it last week, restarted it a few times and finally decided to post...and now it's working.

The search is also "not working".

If I search for a contact in imessage, nothing shows up. I have to scroll through previous messages to find the chat. Same thing in notes, the app drawer, photos and the system search. It's like the phone just refuses to index, even after being plugged in overnight. All this happened with the penultimate software release.

Hi,

A few days ago I started this thread. I thought the issue fixed itself, but then it came back. I can now reproduce the error.

While listening to a song in Apple Music, when you tap the 3 dots, the “add to playlist” option only displays when connected to wifi. Even when the antenna is on, if it’s not connected to a router, the option is not displayed at all.

(I’ve got mobile data turned OFF in the settings)

iPhone 15 with iOS 26.4.1

Any clue how I can fix this?

How else is it supposed to add to your playlist on Apple Music when it has no Internet connection? If Wi-Fi is turned off or not connected, and you have disabled mobile data then it stands to reason it won’t work

I don’t use Music, but you can add photos to albums in Photos without internet, so I would have expected to be able to add music to a playlist, and that it would sync to iCloud later when internet available…like Photos.
Yeah, doesn’t appear to work that way.

I’m not saying it COULDN’T - just that it DOESN’T.

If that’s a feature you want, let Apple know.

I’ve never used mobile data for Apple Music. This is stuff that’s on device.

I don’t think so. I’m not using the Apple Music subscription service. I’m just using the app to play music files.

Haven't tried lately, so maybe a recent update changed something, but I can confirm that I've previously been able to add and remove songs from playlists while completely disconnected from the internet in Airplane mode, even when those songs were previously downloaded to the device via an Apple Music subscription. Any changes I made to playlists while offline would then sync to the cloud and my other devices once I got back online.

I don’t know if this is related to the AI playlist feature they just released, but it seems to have a bug.

Testing here, it definitely doesn’t work on iPhone or iPad.

It’s not something I’ve ever had reason to try before, so as to whether this is a new behavior or “as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be” - no idea. But not allowed now, and documentation makes no mention that I see.

I can confirm. I don't use Apple Music, and only have local mp3s synced to my phone in the music app, and I can't add to a playlist unless I'm connected to the net.
Thanks. Good to know I’m not crazy. Any way to let apple know about this bug, and any chance they’ll fix it?

For the sake of completeness, this bug has been fixed with the release of 26.5.

26.4 was very buggy on my device.

I still cannot get playlists created on Apple Music under Tahoe to appear on my iOS or iPadOS devices. Works fine on my MacOS devices. Apple Music is and always has been a disaster.
