It's been a good 8 years since I bought a phone in a shop, and the last time I seem to remember having to provide a ridiculous number of IDs (photo / proof of address etc).

Does anyone know what o2's policy on which froms of ID are acceptable before they'll let you sign a contract ?

Much appreciated
Alex :)

The normal stuff for credit checks... Full driving license, Credit card, some proof of address and accurate information about your addresses for the last 5 years.

Sometimes they ask for less, sometimes more.. depends on the store I think.

A valid bank or credit card and details of the account you want the DD taken from - that's all.

ignore the above post..... (damn to slow the one above the above post)

You need

1) a valid UK CREDIT/DEBIT card registered to your home address

OR

Uk Drivers Licence AND Passport

2) Uk bank details for direct debit

thats it

sold phones for a LONG time! i know

I'm bringing the full works. I can imagine waiting there since 5:30am, finally getting a chance to get one of the few iPhones and then "Sorry mate, we need your passport"

Better safe than sorry ;)

Just hoping that, having got up at 4:45am and being a little sleepy, having my MBP, passport, driving licence, etc on me that I don't get mugged... :p

I'm sure that all you need is the valid debit/credit card and the bank DD details. That said I would take the entire contents of my 'personal id' file with me on the day!!!

Is it worth noting that I dont think solo cards will be accepted as you can get them when your like 6

Yes thats right, solo and electron cards will not be accepted by any mobile network as valid proof. O2 are still ok, having just 1 ID proof, you should work at orange, they ask for all sorts!

I can confirm that O2 only need aa debit card, or certainly, my local one only required that. That's tied to your address, so seemingly they are less concerned about fraud, and more concerned about taking anyone's money.

:) It's funny because it's true! :)
