I have the option to buy an 07 MacBook for $700 vs. A new MacBook pro for $1300.

The MacBook is in great quality, has Microsoft office, and other perks added as well.

I'm having troubles deciding what would be a better buy. I'd rather save the $600 but would want the best buy, any help would be great!! Thanks!!

Justin

$700 is too much for an 07 MacBook. You could buy a refurb 2009 MacBook for $759 or a refurb 2010 for $849, both of which are far better deals than an 07 for $700. Depending on which model you're looking at, the MBP is probably the better deal of the two.

Absolutely agree. A 2007 MacBook is worth around $500-550. If you get a used MB get a 2010 used one, you can find them for well under $1000. Check Craigslist too, there are always Apple users upgrading.

Well what are the specs? It's easy to assume that it's a baseline model; if it is then I agree with everyone here. I got a deal on mine; an 08 blackbook with upgraded internals. If the parts are upgraded then sometimes it might be worth the cost.

But yea unless it's something really crazy I wouldn't go for it. Just offering some food for thought.

COMPLETE Agree.

I bought my immaculately used Al_uMB 2008 under originally warranty for $850 CAN back in January 2010! 2.4Ghz C2D, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD with a hardly used Battery. Add Apple care for $179 (discounted) and I'm still set until April 2012! Great machines but if you asked me now to purchase this Late 2008 machine now I wouldn't pay more than $550-600CAN for it!

Save the extra dollar and purchase the 2011 MBP ... the CPU performance and longevity of OS updates is MORE than worth it: along with Applications supported.
