I just got a "service battery" warning on my 2008 Macbook and decided to look up my battery's stats. Its total capacity is 51% of the original and it's only been through 85 cycles. Apple gave me a replacement a little over a year ago due to the massive swelling I had with my other. However, I feel like 85 cycles and only 51% capacity is not normal from an average user's standpoint. I would love to avoid the $130 fee but I was wondering if there is any chance they will replace it and if so how should I go about doing it?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

It doesn't hurt to ask, but since it's not covered by AppleCare, they likely won't replace it free.

The link below should answer most, if not all, of your battery/charging questions. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you take the time to read it.
