I've personally hold off on getting WatchOS 2. Wondering if 2.0.1 solved a lot of the app problems? Any comparasion thoughts?

Install it - now! Apps load faster, Watch wakes faster, very smooth experience. You definitely won't regret it.
For me it was no giant leap in performance but all went well with no harm done.
Update: On my 1st full day with the update and there is no doubt I am using less battery. I am at 85% with almost 8 hours off the charger. Not a little better a LOT better. I would normally be in the 70% range
