well,

i have a macbook 13" white book and the new 13" aluminum but lately
my sister needed to use the white one so i lent her it, and out of nowhere she slept while she was working and accidentally pushed the notebook off the bed and on to the floor...

ya.. the screen basically broke, you can only see about half the screen and the other half shows black with random pixels and cracked etc.
so i went to apple to see how much it would cost and they said 1,000! (in canadian currency)
i was like WAT

does it actually cost this much or is there another way to fix the screen.?
because i really doubt it costs that much.

my friend dropped her blackbook and got a new screen from ebay and replaced it herself. i think the screen cost her like $500 or so though, maybe less. you could try fixing it yourself. it is a lot cheaper.

Ebay you can get screens for about $90usd and its simple to replace them.

Apple authorised service centres are bound by their agreement with Apple to repair machines with genuine Apple parts ordered directly from Apple.

The cost of the LCD screen (which often includes the plastic shell etc.) is often well in excess of seven or eight hundred bucks, throw in some labour costs and there's your gorilla.

Unfortunately. there are a few parts of MacBooks (and other Apple computers) that cost so much to repair that you might as well just get a new machine. C'est la iVie

I'm on my third whitebook screen. $120 for a new lcd on ebay and a six pack for my friend to install it.

could anyone give me links to any detailed instructing website on how to replace macbook screens for the plastic whitebooks
