iPod touch 1.1.1 restore problem error (1)

I have a 1.1.1 touch and want to restore. Although I have the 1.1.1 restore files and navigate to them by pressing alt and restore, I get an error ipod could not restore an unknown error occurred (1)! Could any kind person please help?

Did you download the package and it automatically unzipped itself? If so, then the integrity of the file has been corrupted.

I got this same error and that was the problem. Even if you zip it back up, iTunes still won't accept it.

You need to download the ipsw file again, this time setting your browser so that it does not automatically open files.
