Well normally when i was on 1.1.2 when i sent a message it would go green then recieved a reply it would be put underneath and go white, and then i reply it goes underneath and goes green etc similar to below (highlight as it has white text)

SENT MESSAGE 1
RECIEVED REPLY 1
SENT MESSAGE 2
RECIEVED REPLY 2
SENT MESSAGE 3
RECIEVED REPLY 3

but since the update my phone does this sometimes but other times it looks like below

SENT MESSAGE 1
RECIEVED REPLY 1
RECIEVED REPLY 2
SENT MESSAGE 2
SENT MESSAGE 3
RECIEVED REPLY 3

etc etc, just a random order of mesasges?

Anyone else got this problem, or know how i could fix it??

im not sure i am getting this correctly, but it just seems that you are sending 2 messages before they reply so thats why it shows up this way. in the first scenario the message structure is a whole different pattern so you arent comparing correct scenarios. it lumps them this way if you send multiple before you get a response

i have the exact same problem...
to the above poster,
messages are sent like this.
TEXT 1
REPLY 1
TEXT 2
REPLY 2
TEXT 3
REPLY 3

but then show up as.
TEXT 1
REPLY 1
REPLY 2
TEXT 2
TEXT 3

or some random arrangement of that. Very strange..

I've been having the same problem.

while I'm in a conversation everything appears in order, but once I leave it to go into another conversation window or to answer a call all my messages are out of order.

=(

I have noticed the same thing it seems like the texts are getting re-arranged and i was all so wondering how they look on the other end? I also noticed that if the phone is asleep or what ever you call it and you get a text message (you can see it on the screen before the swipe) when you swipe to open the phone the SMS button does not show that you have a text message like it did before.

I JUST NOTICED THAT THIS IS TRUE ALL MY SMS ARE GETTING RE ARRAIGNED AFTER CLOSING THE WINDOW AND A FEW SECONDS LATER.... BOOM...

APPLE --- FIX THIS!

I have not noticed this on either of my iPhone running 1.1.3. I have texted differant people last night and today and all my texts are in order and replys are on the correct side and order. I am wondering if this has to do with the persons phone that is replying to you and the iPhone is redaing the SMS headers in a weird way.

This seems to be an issue with AT&T. I noticed this behavior in 1.1.2 it was very infrequent but it was there.

testing right now so far I only notice it when I text my wife (non Iphone a Pantec phone)

Lets get more feed back if we can

Same thing here

i have the exact same issue on 2 iPhones
it only happeneds when you exit out of the conversation
this is very annoyoing

to replicate it just
send a message
go to homescreen and wait for a reply
go back into sms and send another text message
wait for a second reply
the messages should now be out of order

the error will look like this
me: hey
me:nothing
Them: whats up

Theres something on engadget about this seams its the first bug of 1.1.3 and it has nothing to do with AT&T because im with 02!!!

Thanks
Simon

Just noticed the same thing on mine, messages were in order in one conversation, came out of SMS and went back in and the last sent and received messages were swapped. Not the end of the world, but still annoying.

sadly this is a new "feature" in 1.1.3

In 1.1.2 getting a SMS shows some preview text in a window and two buttons
Reply
and
Ignore- I prefered this because it allowed me to reply to that SMS later but also left it marked as unread, so I can remember that I have a message that needs a response.

In 1.1.3 all the text in the SMS is now shown.
the buttons are now
Reply
and
Close- since you are now given all the text it can't be marked as unread, but now closing the window mean you may forget about that SMS.

im having the same problem. theyre all out of order, no matter who im talking to.

another SMS glitch

so I've found another glitch.

Today I recieved a text. I unlocked my phone and it took me right to the message... My phone vibrated twice

I replied and exited so I could go back into safari.

I noticed an unread message...

I returned to SMS app and saw I had an unread message from a different friend...

But...

The SMS was from 5 minutes into the future!!

So either my iPhone can defy time I'll assume it was a glitch.

Also, this happened yesterday but when I read the SMS it was timestamped as only being one minute ahead so I didn't think too much about it.

It is not just an issue with AT&T. I have the same problem with O2 in the UK.
And it has ONLY happened in my case since upgrading to 1.1.3 (and loads of these threads appeared as soon as 1.1.3 was released) leading me to assume the problem lies mainly with Apple.

I know i have reported the error to apple, i suppose its just a case of waiting for them to rectify the error whih could be ages!

Copied in from other reply I put this should sort it fixed it all for me. It seems the phones clock is set on california time so it confuses all the texts (if you go to clock in the world clock should be your time zone and will probably say not the time it is at the moment! It's a timezone error)
This worked for me so give it a go

A fix that actually works (for JB phones as you need SSH)
SSH into root of phone
rm /var/db/timezone/localtime
ls /usr/share/zoneinfo/Etc/

get the code for your timezone and remember it (mine is GMT)

ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/Etc/(code) /var/db/timezone/localtime

mine was ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/Etc/GMT /var/db/timezone/localtime

props to rgates on the MMi forums for this
