Hey all,
Just thought I'd give you my two cents about the new geolocation feature in 1.1.3. I upgraded last night and tried it out in my place in Camden Town and it worked 5 times out of 6 and failed one time. By fail I mean that instead of showing my street accurate to about 200m it showed me a map of the whole of greater london and said "you are somewhere in here"
.
The acid test however was this morning on the bus into university, even whilst moving at 30mph through a busy street with a lot of electromagnetic occlusions it still managed to give me a 100m accurate signal 70-80% of the time. This is *really* impressive, as an engineer I can appreciate the problems with doppler shift and the bus itself is like a semi-faraday cage shielding the signal and causing all sorts of artifacts.
So in conclusion bravo Apple/Google, my iPhone is now well worth the money I paid for it....
