I'm having issues. I was stupid, and updated my jailbroken 1.1.1 iPod to 1.1.3 through iTunes, i.e., a regular update losing all of my apps etc.

now I'd like to downgrade, re-jailbreak, and upgrade again.

I have the 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 firmware, but I can't seem to get iTunes to install - I keep getting an "unknown error".

Help?

i just went through this yesterday with my ipod touch 32GB.

first i was getting an unknown error(1) constantly. the best advice i found was to make sure itunes was running, get yourself out of DFU mode (i ended up just restoring a 1.1.3) and to go back into it, hold the sleep/home keys for a count of 10, then hold the home key for a count of 10. that got rid of the unknown error 1 and i was able to easily go back to 1.1.1, jailbreak it, move to 1.1.2 and back to 1.1.3.

i also encountered an unknown error (5) once and that was from what was mentioned above. i hadn't paid attention and was trying to apply the iphone firmware, not ipod.
