My iPod now doesn't mount after upgrading to 1.2.6. It worked for a couple of days, then quit. Now, all I get is the folder with an exclamation mark on it. I've tried all suggestions from Apple's website, etc...all to no avail. Here is a link to my problem.

And here are additional links to the same problem that have been posted after 1.2.6. It seems rather odd that iPods seem to be failing after this firmware update:

I think there are jsut alot of complaints aswioth anything. I have 1.2.6 on my 20GB and it works liek it should have since I got it. The problem is that for the msot part people who don't have a problem any more don't post more than once about the topic but the pppl that do fill up the message baords. There is no consiparcy. Is there any chance your stealing music? I mean the sticker does say don't steal music maybe thats the consiparcy.

what does this have to do with anything? don't just spew accusations, especially when they're so out of nowhere.

anyways, i haven't had mounting problems, but i sure haven't seen the fixed battery issue....

i was joking.......and can only assume the problems are associated to indivdual ipods. Is it possible anyone is having toruble because they are upgrading from a different version than 1.2.1. If i rememb er correctly quite a few ppl downgraded in hopeso f helping their battery before 1.2.6

Maybe that came out wrong as i'm still nursing a raging guinness/budvar/JD/skunk hangover/depletion of life-force, but what i meant was that i was experiencing dodgy battery life and haven't noticed any significant improvement to life and soul of my little mini-me.

How old is your iPod? It could be that you have a very real battery problem and not a software problem.

well i had a major issue with 1.2.6, lost all functionality of iTunes. it never launched again and no one, including Apple support could help. had to do a complete Software Restore on my PowerMac. the thing that strikes me as odd with 1.2.6 is that to this day it has never shown up when i run Software Update. that worries me. is it showing up for everyone else? in any case i'm sticking with 1.2.1

After i installed the 1.6.2 update the firewire cable broke, so i had to get a new one. Something is really suspicious about that update :p

>my 5Gig BoskiPod;) doesn't seem to last any longer either:( (boskie)

Nice pod name. Check out my iPod tips to get some longer battery life, assuming your iPod isn't suffering from hardware defects.

I realized the update was 1.2.6, not 1.6.2. Something is suspicious about that 1.6.2 update.

coolbreeze, if you have not already done so, check out the Info Knowledge Base at Apple and do a search there. If that doesn't help, post your question over at TheTechPub.com (registration required) to get better assistance.
