In breaking up an old data centre, I aquired an 80gb Maxtor SATA hard drive. However, it says 1.5gbps, and all the installaton guides I have read recommend a minimum speed of 3gbps. Will this one run fine?

I'm only planning to use it as extra storage until I get a new 500gb drive after christmas. And I don't know how old it is

Thanks in advance,

Max

That's the theoretical interface speed. 1.5Gbps = SATA 1, 3 Gbps = SATA 2. 2 is backwards compatible to 1. It's all a pissing match anyway: no drive gets close to 1.5Gps let alone 3...
