Is there really any noticable difference between the two? With only a 270Mhz difference, would you be able to notice much of anything?

Keep in mind both machines have 1GB of memory. (If that even matters? )

you'll notice a difference with Final Cut Pro, and other major graphics apps

for regular multitasking, I expect it to be the same

If time is absolutely essential to what you are doing (rendering, for example) then yes. Otherwise, there is not much difference.

apparently 270mhz is the difference between supporting a 30" display or not...

First of all, granted that I left engineering for psychology and my math skills have plummeted, but how does 1.67GHz - 1.5GHz = 270Mhz? :D

Second, IIRC, the 30" display deal has to do entirely with the change in video card. The latest 128MB video card supports the dual link display adaptor, and the other video cards do not. So it's that card that you need, and not 1.67GHz.

ummm, oops  . I was just quoting from the original post. Maybe I should do my own math from now on. :p
