As much as I like the thought of a 1-cable solution of the 21.5" LG Ultrafine monitor, I'm pretty bummed out by a) the lack of USB3 speeds, b) the 60 W charging max for the 15" 2016 MBP, and c) the ridiculous price of the 5k version.

Are there any adapters that will make it possible to have power-in, USB-C display out, and USB3 ports, all at full capacity, for a price that doesn't rival the monitor itself?

Do you want 4k/60hz or is 4k/30hz acceptable? If 60hz, then the only option I know of to accomplish all of your criteria (except price) is one of the various Thunderbolt 3 hubs.

My opinion only, but I would prefer a "simple" display -- i.e., one that is a display ONLY, and connects via a traditional "Mac-to-display cable" WITHOUT all the USB-c stuff.

Fewer problems that way.
If you need more connections, get some kind of a hub for that purpose.

To much potential for connection problems with the display, otherwise.
