AT&T or Verizon, hear me out:

AT&T 450 min with unlimited text and 3 gigs of data = $89

Verizon unlimited text and talk and 1 gig of data = $90

I live in Socal and not planning on going anywhere anytime soon. I never even reach 100 minutes of talk time a month, ever. I live a little outside of the At&t coverage for LTE based on their SoCal coverage map. I really don't know what to do. any suggestions?

Verizon for the LTE.

Choose the carrier that has better coverage in your area.

Seriously.

If you can't decide got with Verizon, they have WIDER/MORE coverage.

where in So Cal? ATT is pretty good here in SD.

Sprint sucks in San Diego

verizon or ATT

ATT will be only carrier where you can surf the net and use the phone at same time

how is the areas LTE for verizon?

I say at&t. You can use voice and data at the same time regardless. And if you dont use that many minutes.....

AT&T, you pretty much nailed it with the fact that you don't talk more than 100 mins a month. So imagine the AT&T plan with unlimited talk as well. Also if LTE is unavailable it should default to HSPA+ which is still decent compared to Verizon 3G.

Keep in mind, no simultaneous talk & web with Verizon.

Might not be a big issue for you, but just reminding you.

As a resident of SoCal I can tell you that you need to get Verizon. Especially if you live outside of AT&T's LTE network. AT&T sucks in the La/Inland Empire areas.

Honestly this would have been a no brainer with Verizon had they had more than 1 gig of data or at least some sort of compromise with their unlimited text and talk which isn't for everyone (ie me). Is At&t planning on expand further out in socal anytime soon so are they just focus on the big cities around the country first? I tried looking this up and couldn't find anything on it.

Verizon does have more than 1GB...

2GB, 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, I think even 10GB

(so does AT&T)

yeah but as a student that goes way above my budget :(

Honestly an extra $10-20 a month is like bringing lunch to school for only 4 days of the month (Assuming each meal costs $5). Or reducing the amount of movies you rent, watch (theater) each month.

I just graduated, and I can assure you that my phone bill was the least of my problems.

If you're in an area with Verizon LTE you should go with them. It's insane. The premium for Verizon is definitely worth it if you're in an area with good coverage.

If you're not in an area with Verizon LTE and have AT&T 3G/4G coverage go with AT&T. Verizon's 3G is stupid slow compared to AT&T's.

Don't pay for unlimited minutes if you only use 100 a month. Without knowing how much data a month you typically use, it's much easier to go over 1gb a month than 450 minutes a month.

Remember, the minutes have free nights and weekends, your data doesn't :p

I agree with this. I was out of range of wifi for 2 weeks and I hit 2GB is 22 days without even trying.

What did you pick?

LOL, I'm gonna pre order the at&t since Im already with at&t and think about it till the 21st and either keep it or return it for a Verizon. But medschool demands a ton of data so the 3 gig is the winner for me for now.

get ATT, Verizon sucks, CDMA carriers no go... GSM all the way worldwide.. LTE is faster on ATT. Verizon trying to force people out of unlimited data that is ridiculous... Plus ATT customer service A+
