I thought this issue was resolved with baseband 1.59 which is why I did the JB.

I just did the 4.2->4.3.3 jailbreak using Redsn0w RC16 and it went fine. I'm still at 1.59 baseband but I have the "1 signal bar" problem.

This is a "cosmetic" issue only, correct?

I tried the "fix" I found on here that said just power cycle then remove/insert the SIM. Didn't help. VVM is working fine but I just get 1 signal bar.

Are there any other fixes for this out there?

You need to install ultrasn0w to fix the 1 signal bar issue (yes, you need to install it even if you don't need the unlock). Once you install it and reboot your phone, remove and reinsert your SIM and everything should be working again.
