So I observed these actions once the 10.10.2 update was installed:
I won't comment on any "Yosemite issues" as I didn't have any beforehand so can't tell if any have been fixed.
Once indexing has definitely finished I'll try re-enabling transparency to see if it still uses enough extra cpu to affect battery life (on 10.10.0 and 10.10.1 it was worth 1hr extra runtime by disabling it).
- Little Snitch requested Spotlight access to several new services
- Spotlight tasks such as mds and mdworker etc ran and used a chunk of cpu while initially indexing (up to 70-80%), this is still underway although cpu for each has relaxed to <5% each with occasional surges to 35-40%.
- kextcache ran, used up to 60% cpu approx, assume a housekeeping task
