So here is the deal .... my MID 2011 iMac with El Capitan is not working. Eventually it will just not boot up, it starts to boot but shuts down.
I am getting errors such as " WEB Content Failure " which just occurred as I am typing this and wiped off my posting. I will post this and add to it because if it happens again I have to restart the whole post.
WEB Content Failure as I understand it is an Adobe Flash problem? Maybe not.
Anyway I bought a new HDD and decided to do a fresh install and boot from and external drive.
It worked fine up until last night.
I got a few Web Content failure messages, but the pages reloaded and all seemed OK.
Then I went to start up Safari and the Tool Bar where you enter a URL had disappeared.
Could not find a solution so I decided to restart the computer.
Then it happened again ........ started to boot but SHUT DOWN.
The above phenomenon occurred with my internal HDD in the beginning, hence going to the external install.
Last night I did a reinstall of the OS over the internet and am working off that install as I type this.
Already the Web Content Failed messages are popping up randomly - might be related I do not know.
HOWEVER ..... when I connect the external HDD wth 10.11 installed I now get this message ( this is the message I got from the internal HDD the first time this occurred ........
NOTICE ---- last night when all of the 10.11 installs were dead, I tried something .........
I have a USB drive that has OS X Yosemite 10.10 installed and tried to boot off of that and IT WORKED !!!!!!!
If I could find my Yosemite Installer I would just revert back to that and be done with it.
I am at my wits end and am ready to just go buy a new machine !!!!!
ANY IDEAS as to what is going on ????????????

OS X can’t repair the disk “EXT2TB.”
You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can’t save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can.
