10.12.1 wont load and sleep issues

I get a notification to upgrade in the app icon. It says it needs to reboot. The computer reboots (there is a brief error message) but 10.12.1 won't download and the notification is still there. I am running a 2015 MacBook air. I can't seem to figure out what to do.
