I've tried twice now to install 10.14.4 from .3 and having the same problem. The other day, did the update from software update and returned an hour or so later to an apple logo with incomplete progress bar, and nothing happening. Tried booting verbose to see if I could work out what was happening and I'm getting a stall from kextd saying

kextd stall[0], (60s): 'AppleGraphicsDeviceControlPlugin', 'AppleHDACodecGeneric', 'IOResources'

As I couldn't find much on this, I did a wipe and restore with time machine, then downloaded the full package using installinstallmacos.py since I wasn't on the latest bootrom, however I've ended up at the same point. I've booted single user mode, done fsck, and tried looking for the kexts, but not finding them. Before I do the time machine dance again, has anyone any hints as to fixing it?

Hardware info, 4.1 flashed to 5.1, apfs system drive, Radeon HD 7950 efi flashed

You likely just imported the issue(s) back onto the boot drive.

Two easiest options:
- Reinstall macOS on top of your current boot drive. (This may or may not solve issue.)
- Perform full clean install onto a blank, completely wiped empty SATA drive directly in SATA sled. Make sure this can be booted and functionally works. If it does work, make a bootable clone of it to actual target boot drive with Carbon Copy Cloner. Boot into target clone and you can import/migrate from backup. If boot issues reappear, they are part of your import/migrate.
