Ran the installer for Mojave on top of an up to date High Sierra installation on my late 2013 Mac Pro. Install seemed to go fine until near the very end when the system wouldn't boot completely. The progress bar would get roughly 90% of the way through, then the system would shut down. As in, off, no power.

Tried it a few times, same result. Booted into Recovery Mode (cmd-R), ran disk utility -> first aid, tried again, no dice.

Recover Mode again, 're-install OS'. Clearly, the Mojave install had gotten most of the way through as it re-installed Mojave.

This time, it succeeded, and my system came up cleanly, everything intact.

Just wanted to post a bit of a PSA on this in case someone else runs into a similar issue.

I am not sure this is unintended. This Beta of Mojave contains a fix for a firmware issue that was pervasive for DB2, HS Beta 6 and PB1. The installation took longer than usual and had my system restarting several times. At the end everything worked out just fine.

Hmm. That's possible. Provided me having to do a forced power on nearly half a dozen times was part of the fix.

The same thing happened to me. I had to reinstall Mojave three times before the issue miraculously stopped happening. In the end, everything is back to normal and I lost no data in my 'scare' either.

Me as well. Hang in.

Hah! Just noticed I'm a newbie. For sure team..... don't listen to me. :)
