ThinkSecret reports that Mac OS X 10.2.4 Server has been seeded to developers. Few details are provided with this release regarding upcoming improvements/bug fixes in the system.

For reference, the lead time for the 10.2.3 seed to GM was approximately four weeks... but this time-frame is certainly not set in stone.

Note that 10.2.4 Client has not yet been seeded to developers.

It been shipped for both, the build ID is 6I14

not know what is new yet

I think this is proof that there is definately something more to this update than Firewire 800/Airport extreme drivers. Does this also mean that the 10.2.4 that was on the Lapzillas/12inch was basically just a custom jobby of 10.2.3 ?

I'm personally hoping for an iChat update and maybe a few general bug/glitch features (not that there are many) Oh.. Apples own Themer utility would be cool aswell (carrys on dreaming...)

Possibly means...

The fact that the server update was seeded before the client update might mean that some things in 10.2.4 are needed for Xserve. One of these could possibly be new firewire 800 support in an Xserve revision.

2 things i am wondering...

1- if this is required for the new versions of the iapps/ilife... wouldn't it have to be out by the 25th?

also

2- there's a known bug with maya, x 10.2.3, and gf 4 ti's... such that maya crashes on launch with that particular set up... i wonder if 10.2.4 fixes it... hmm....

If the majority of server software is opensource who is getting seeded the software? If you buy an XServe do you get the software seeds as well?

i thought it was the al12's shipping next week, and the 17's not till february at the earliest?

anyways, i am dying for this thing. i want better graphics support, and iChat is dying for some real work. i hope they don't just say, "well, we have a chat client," and leave it at that. iChat sucks--it's the best chat program on the mac, don't get me wrong, but jeez. it doesn't come even close to AIM 4.8 for PCs. what the heck?
