10.2.8 probs after power outage

we had a power outage in my area, and when the power came back on, i started my g3 imac running 10.2.8. the problem is, now the hard drive icon starts up on weird places on the desktop. but the biggest prob is that i can't click and drag anything, files, nothing. i know it's not the mouse, because in sys prefs, i can click and drag adjustment bars and stuff. i just can't click and drag file icons. what gives? everything else works fine so far. any help would be cool.
