Ok trying to install OSX 10.2 on a G4 400 AGP down the hall. Have done the firmware update. Its got 2 internal drives - one of them has OSX 10.1 just for fun, its really a media drive, the other dirve has been wiped clean - no system, no nothing.

i follow all on screen instrucions on the install disc, everything seems to be going fine... then anout 2-5 minutes into the install the computer goes to blue screen for a few seconds, then to black screen and it says - not exact text:

"Installer quit for unknown reasons (error 0)
Please restart your computer"

3 times in a row. after the 2nd time I did disc ultil from the CD reformat the disc - but got the same error on the 3rd time.

Any thoughts??? Really wanted to get this up & running.

It is the factory installed drive that came with the puter - so I assume its the master...

I'll ckeck later tonight

to be more clear... the drive i am trying to install OSX 10.2 on used to be OS9.2.2
this is the drive that came with the computer

the drive with OSX 10.1 was and is a media drive, never really started up from that drive
just put it on for fun

untill i wiped the 1st drive last night all worked fine & dandy

PayPAL REWARD for solving the problem

ok - took out all extra PCI cards (one was a MIRO DC30 - lol)

disconnect the other drive

still no go. the exact error message is:
"The Installer has quit due to an unexpected error (exit code 0)
Please restart your computer"

all i've been able to do is a software restore of OS 9.0.2

I'll give $5.00 via PayPal or US Mail for ne1 who can solve the problem.
$10 if it turn out to be a really geeky fix

the only thing not FACTORY INSTALLED is a ATI Raedon 9000 card

Bob Dobbs:

I'm suspicious of a hardware problem. An OS installer should not be failing.
