ny somewhere
only on my macbook pro. thru all the betas (have been running public betas since apple started the program), i open the app store, and download when i'm ready.

this morning, i woke to find my macbook pro was already downloading pb3 (i had to manually do this on my macbook).

anyone else? or on any of the betas? "download newly available..." is unchecked on both macs (they both have the same preferences); again, never had this happen before, just wondered why it happened today.

not one person has ever experienced this? anyway, will let it go for now. i 'redid' my preferences in the app store on my mbp, will see if it happens again.

I'd like to offer some advice, take it for what it's worth.

I WOULD NOT permit the App Store/Software Update to download ANYTHING "on its own" (i.e., "automatically").

I prefer to have control over this.
Yes -- notify me that updates are available.
But I will choose when to actually download them.

Perhaps that's just me.

um... did you read my post? my macs are set that way, and have been all along. only, with the current beta, i found my macbook pro had started the install despite my settings; that's the point of my post.

Ah, ok.
With all the shennanigans that seem to be going on "behind the curtain" from Apple lately, could they have changed this setting behind your back?
