10.4.8 = whine?

I just updated to 10.4.8 (15 inch mbp). Now I have a loud whine coming from my computer, which I believe to be the infamous MBP whine. It's worst when the system is idle and doesnt happen when putting it through certain processes (intensive ones, even rolling between magnified dock icons or pressing the trackpad button makes it stop).

Any help'd be appreciated.

i just tried running a video over my network and got a new, louder whine, now the whine is pulsating, even though I quite itunes.

Get the machine to an Apple store or just send it to be repaired. Apple has acknowledged this as an issue, albeit a rare one, and they're pretty good about fixing it quickly.
