Hello,

I'm still in a dumps with my MBP. Let me just say first off

10.4.11 TIGER Mac Book Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo)

I get so many replies thinking I have Leopard. Well, if I could get my keyboard fixed... (see:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/484117/
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/489426/ )

, I would upgrade to leopard now that 10.5.3 is out and google gmail sync is possible.

However, I have 3 or so questions:

1) Retorical: WHY doesn't Gmail allow you to merge contacts? I have all these automatically added contacts but no way to merge them. Until I can merge them, syncing with my iphone and mac will be a waste of time. I need to have more ways to prune down my gmail contacts before syncing and I don't want to make groups... yet.

2) CAN IT WORK ON TIGER? (gmail syncing that is) Can gmail syncing work on tiger??

3) If no, it can't work on tiger, and I need to upgrade to Leopard. What is the best way to do it? I searched the forums and looked at about 10 posts; none of which were particularly helpful. How much HD space do I need to install Leopard????

The preinstalled Tiger MBP was my first mac purchase so I have never upgraded a mac OS. Should I do a clean install?

Should I get my keyboard fixed before installing?

Should I clone my computer to a External HD before taking it in to a mac store? or before I upgrade to Leopard?

Thank you!
