Just got my iMac back from repair today (HDD replacement) and restored it using TimeMachine.

While everything has transferred over so that my system is exactly as it was before, I now have an odd internet problem...

Using wifi I can connect to Adium, Mail, Firefox although when it comes to System Update, iTunes and Safari the internet is seemingly not available.

Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Will provide more information if you require it.

Ben

I had to reset the Location in the Network panel of System Preferences to a new one labelled Home rather than Automatic and the problem has been solved.

This is usually a proxy problem -- you should be able fix it in the Advanced Network Preference (next time it happens). Good thing you already have it fixed -- so your home must have been set up proxy-less.
