10.5.6 MBP WiFi toggle keeps asking for password

Hi. I have a SR MBP running 10.5.6 and i have an administrator account and my normal user account.

everything was fine until recently, but now, every time i toggle the WiFi on/off it has started requesting the username/password of an administrator account.

any ideas why this might be happening now?
