Sorry if someone has already discussed this, but I couldnt find it on a quick search, but OS X 10.5.6 doesnt want to install.

I'm running 10.5.5 on my 2GHz 1.5GB Intel Core 2 Duo iMac, and when I try to install the update, I get this:

The update "Mac OS X Update" can't be installed.
The Installer encountered an unknown error that failed the install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

Anyone experienced this or know the solution??

Thanks.

I hope this isn't an FAQ, but, how is the combo update different than letting Software Update scan in the background [daily in my case] and do what it does for downloading?

In my case [intel MPB17 running 10.5.5] the package downloaded by SW Update was 190MB. The combo update is ~669MB. Clearly bigger.

So is the supposition as follows?

SW Update downloads a subset of an update, according to what it thinks it needs, while the combo update has everything for every situation?

Is there any reason to expect the Combo will fare any better?
