My Unibody MBP is noticeably hotter after the 10.5.6 update. I'm running the 9400M. It's nothing horrible, but I do notice the keys getting a little warm where they didn't before.

Anyone else?

I do not use smc or anything like that...

My temps seem a bit cooler actually.

Yeah than fan not kicking in as it use to. and i am seeing something wrong with battery life too.... i have to keep whole night for charge and check tomorrow if everything is good...

Mine runs 2-3 degrees cooler with the update, however safari lags along a bit compared to before when there was no lag at all.

Ya mine feels hot, over 60 degrees just running Safari... what the...?!?

Fans are hovering just over 2k, no action there. The body above the kybrd feels hotter as well.

I think the first one (for me) was with the 9600. The more recent is certainly with the 9400. I'll have to give the 9600 a try again.

EDIT: 9600 running Safari and iTunes.

Ya looks that way on mine. I switched back to the 9400 and its quite a bit cooler. The CPU is 14 less while my GPU is 15 degrees less.

Why would the GPU make the CPU run hotter out of curiousity?

Seems to be working.

I am having gaming issues with the screen locking while playing Fallout and other intense games on XP Pro 64. I just did a application test. I am running with the lid closed, and a large external display. I was idling at somewhere around 75 with the 9600. I opened youtube, and roughly no increase in temp or fan speed. I then opened quicktime six times playing different movies in different formats. Came up to the mid-80s. I then launched itunes and put a movie on.. mid to high 80s now. With all this running, I launched garageband, photoshop, final cut, and iphoto (with 10k plus pictures) all at once. Usage slammed all the way up. Started climbing, but at about 93 the fans went from 2400 (moved up from 2000 after I opened itunes) all the way to max. This happened with SMC profile set to default. They stayed on full until the tem came back to the low 60s. I am now at 67 doing nothing but typing. I guess we will see how she fairs when I launch fallout.
