I'm curious about this:

Can Leopard Server, be updated with unix subsystem files from modern linux or bsd? Like the unix server components, to essentially end up with a up to date, or near up to date server inside 10.5.8 leopard. Ubuntu and Debian at least still offer PPC builds, so can those files be used?

It might be a worthwhile project for someone with the time and know-how to take on. I'd be interested in following the progress of such a project were someone to take it on.

I wish I had the unix skills to attempt this. I would love to make a best possible server OSX for PPC. Mainly to try on my xserve, but I bet others would be interested in it too.
