PLEASE SEE UPDATE AT THE END OF THIS PROBLEM:
I upgraded to iPadOS, excited to be able to move photos off my 10.5" iPad Pro (Lightning) to an external drive. I purchased the required USB3 Camera Connection Kit (CCK)
From reading posts, I knew that the CCK would most likely need an attached power source since mine is not the newer USB-C iPad Pro. The CCK has a USB3 and Lightning port with a Lightning cable. I am using the CCK Lightning port for power from the iPad's 12W power adapter.
Unfortunately, when attaching a USB3.1 Samsung flash drive, I get the dreaded "Accessory requires too much power" message. Same message when I try to connect a Samsung T3 portable SSD. An older USB2 flash drive did work.
I used the same set up on an iPhone 8 with iOS13 and everything worked just fine.
FYI-When I first attached the USB3 CCK to the iPad Pro, a message came up that said the iPad Pro needed to update something (firmware?) with the CCK. It took about 3 minutes to update.
Any ideas why the iPad Pro won't mount the USB3 flash drive and external SSD while the iPhone 8 works as advertised?
UPDATE:
So now it works. The iPad Pro would not mount any USB3 drives, only USB2.
I repeated the same setup with an iPhone 8 and every drive mounted as it should.
I then set up the iPad Pro again and this time everything mounted like normal!
Perhaps I should have restarted the iPad after the CCK firmware update. Otherwise I have no idea what happened.
