hi,
sometimes I can't connect to a wifi network.. what happens is the AirPort icon on menu bar shows it's connectd, but when I go to network preferences, under AirPort, it'll say:
or it'll say:
what on earth is going on here....
and:
if AirPort can't connect to a wifi, why does the wifi icon in menu bar look it's connected?
right now I can connect fine to wifi at home, but at internet café I sometimes have these difficulties with AirPort... why is this? this is the 2nd internet café where this has happened to me (but: the one I'm trying to connect to right now I connected to it fine just two days ago..)
would appreciate some help.. this is very frustrating...
thank you very much...
PS: again: I can connect fine to wifi at home.. it's only some wifis outside the home that are the problem.. so it can't be something in my machine or settings or anything, right? at any rate I haven't changed any settings in AirPort recently.. just clarifying (after having seen some responses in search results for this problem.. also some responses say "turn yr router off & on, etc.. but that doesn't apply to me, since problem is wifi's outside the home.. thank you....)

AirPort does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the Internet.

AirPort has the self-assigned IP address <999.999.999.9> and will not be able to connect to the Internet.
